Loftbook No. 2
Loftbook No. 2
The history of new lofts is actually the story of a good idea that meets open ears and cooperative business partners.
Space Oddity*
So far and arduous the journey may have been, the astronauts arrived at the destination. The Swiss flag (in the case of loftprojekt.ch) is hoisted, the moon land marked as swiss property that now can be cultivated.
This theme we used for the going-public campaign of loftprojekt.ch, probably with a wink, nevertheless with great truth: with the idea of new lofts Novaron consistently developed since the late 90s, they charted new territory in Switzerland and Austria.
That this type of space oddity was developed in the limited space of Switzerland, shows that on one side there is a borderless pool full of ideas, on the other side a great potential of interested people. There is one thing in common: the need to defy conventions and to find new ways to question traditional thinking and to rethink existing building. The Discover of new rooms, this architectural space oddity, means also to take risks, to think the unthinkable and to venture new interpretations.
While the concept of lofts originally is characterized as an adapted housing in fabrics-or industrial buildings the new lofts are primarily residential space that is indeed perceived as such, but nevertheless, in the broadest sense borrows in industrial construction. The use of raw materials, spacious rooms and the previously not so known possibility to define a bare space as a projection of their own home concept.
New lofts with the system of Novaron - based on the ancient Greek "new space" - is not only the company's name of the established architectural company in Diepoldsau in Eastern Switzerland, but also program. The discovery of new spaces, their visualization and realization are in the center of a process that includes also an appropriate use of resources, as well as the selection of experimental material, the demand for aesthetics and a clear formal language.
Novaron however has made it their goal to take into account with the greatest flexibility the growing demands of a society in transition. Against this background Novaron developed in the late 90s the system of new lofts, that allows the owners, to divide their long-term housing flexible and largely according to their own ideas and preferences.
